Coral Mustang Wines

Mark as Favorite

Coral Mustang Wines is an Alexander Valley based label that specializes in single vineyard Tempranillo grown in the Paso Robles AVA. Originally from the Rioja region of Spain, this grape is increasingly popular in California.

Coral Mustang is owned by Penelope and Frank Gadd-Coster. Penelope is the winemaker, and has worked with many famous vintners in the past, most notably, Andre Tchelistcheff.

Although Penelope’s wines are currently made with sourced grapes from Paso Robles, she recently planted Tres Palmeras Vineyard in the hills surrounding Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. These vines are grown at an elevation of 800 feet above the valley floor, and will be mature enough to harvest in a few years.

For the time being, Coral Mustang produces a barrel-aged Tempranillo and a Rose from Vista Creek Vineyards in Paso Robles. Charlie and Pattie Youngclaus own these vines in the well-drained soils near Huerohuero Creek.

The Coral Mustang 2004 Tempranillo is a 100% varietal wine made with grapes from Vista Creek Vineyards. It was aged in a combination of French and American oak for 13 months before bottling.
