Calistoga Cellars

Calistoga Cellars is located on a beautiful piece of property in the Northern Napa Valley. The winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Calistoga Cellars makes several excellent wines with a combination of purchased and estate fruit. These vintages are also very good values. Winemaker Barry Gnekow takes an artisan approach, and eschews intervention whenever possible. His goal is to let the natural flavors of the grapes shine through.

The 2005 Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain this varietal’s inherent vibrancy. This wine has citrus and tropical fruit flavors that include notes of grapefruit and pears. 2% Chardonnay was blended with 98% Sauvignon Blanc for a little added body and lushness.

The Calistoga Cellars 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon was produced from the winery’s estate Blossom Creek Vineyard as well as grapes from Louer Family Vineyard in the St Helena AVA. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 24 months. 2% Syrah was blended with Cab for this wine.

My favorite whites are Calistoga Cellars - Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay! The SB is a pleasant surprise with a memorable and unique taste and I always make sure I have this wine on hand for friends and family.

The Chardonnay pairs perfectly with almost any meal. I tell friends its the next cakebread at a much much reasonable price.
