This is a 100% varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, unlike Silver Oak's Napa Valley version which is a blend of Cab, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. The Alexander Valley Cab is a little less fruit driven and more herbaceous and floral than the Napa Valley one.

I have a question. How long can you keep a bottle of Silver Oak assuming you keep it horizontal and at around 55 degrees? I have a bottle of 1991 and don't want to open it later only to find it has gone bad.

It is probably getting close it its peak right now, 18 years. Wouldn't wait too much longer.

This place was so packed it took awhile to get a tasting. It was worth the wait.

I have heard that 2001 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernets are going bad. Anyone else finding this?
I opened two bottles of 2003 Alexander Valley Cab after I heard this and they were undrinkable.
Let me know if you know anything.
